The Saudi Water Authority has stressed that all entities involved in water services activities, whether from the public or private sector, must submit electronic applications for the issuance of licenses to conduct their operations. This initiative aims to regulate the sector and improve the quality and reliability of water services. The Authority stated that methodologies have been established to monitor the performance of licensed entities through various indicators covering supply chains, with a focus on water quality and usage efficiency. Additionally, they will verify compliance with these indicators and license conditions, which will lead to improved service quality. Today, the Saudi Water Authority launched a public awareness campaign titled “Your License is Easier” to clarify the licensing process for those engaging in water service activities in both sectors. The activities requiring a license include: Desalinated water production, purified water production, transportation of desalinated and purified water, strategic water storage, distribution of desalinated and purified water, collection of sewage, treatment of sewage, transport and distribution of treated water, water trading, and principal buyer activities under the jurisdiction of the Saudi Water Authority. It is important to note that the Saudi Water Authority is responsible for regulating and overseeing water and sewage service activities in the Kingdom by issuing licenses for these activities. This is aimed at protecting consumer interests, monitoring water quality, and supporting the supply chain. The Authority urges everyone that engaging in any water and sewage service activity without obtaining the necessary licenses is a violation of the Water Law and subject to penalties.
